Why we exist
AI voice tools move fast: text-to-speech that sounds human, voice clones from seconds of audio, transcription that keeps up with meetings. The marketing moves even faster. Our job is to separate what these tools actually do from what their ads imply — and to explain the consent and legal rules clearly, without scaring you or steering you wrong.
One rule governs everything we publish: if a claim can't be traced to a named source — a vendor's pricing page, a statute, a regulator's notice, or a reputable study — it doesn't get published.
How we review
- Hands-on testing. We create accounts, run identical tasks — the same script through every text-to-speech tool, the same meeting audio through every transcription tool — and report what actually happened.
- Source hierarchy. Tier 1: primary law, regulator notices and vendor pricing pages, each with an "as of" date. Tier 2: vendor documentation and technical papers. Tier 3: reputable press, used for background only.
- Expert review. Audio claims are reviewed by an audio engineer; legal sections by a technology lawyer.
- Corrections. We fix errors and note them on the page; you can report one any time.
